The Program Coordinator for the Shaw Wellness Institute is primarily responsible for the effective implementation of an assigned portfolio of programs to improve the holistic wellness for students and employees. The program coordinator is responsible for supporting population-based, prevention-focused health promotion efforts, with particular focus on outreach to students and collaboration with campus partners.
Areas of focus include responsibility for:
• effective coordination of assigned events and programs for students and employees including logistics, outreach, financial management, and the accurate capture and maintenance of records and program data;
• effective outreach and relationship-development with students to encourage engagement with health-promotion efforts and programs that are both inclusive and reflective of Colgate's student demographic and specific needs and target at-risk populations;
• effective implementation of assigned areas of communication for population-level prevention, including social media, web, print, and direct e-mails on topical areas such as sleep, stress, mindfulness, and resilience;
• effective recruiting, retention, advising students, and coordination of peer health education program to ensuring that students have access to opportunities and they receive value as a result of their participation in the community; encouraging students to achieve a sense of responsibility for their personal growth and academic success;
• serving as an advocate for health and well-being on Colgate campus through effective engagement with employees and students and participation in assigned committees;
• supporting program development by generating ideas for programs, including research into evidence-based programs and collaboration with campus partners including counseling, health services, and human resources;
• as needed, applying knowledge of health prevention to support the development of population and systems-focused approaches to health issues and in delivering programs to employees and students on health-related areas;
• assessing and making appropriate judgements in cases of emergencies; and
• as required, effectively supervising students.
This is a 10-month position (August-May).

A minimum of six months to one year of experience in generating ideas for new programs and managing both existing and new programs in an academic setting with successful results is preferred.
